1. Who this is

Ignis (ignis.wiki) turns any subject into a story you can explore — its timeline, the people who shaped it, and where it leads. It is a small, independent project. Questions about your data, or requests to see, change or delete it, can go to learnwithignis.wiki@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

• Account details. Your first name, last name and email address, given when you make an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google — never your Google password. Your password, when you set one directly, is handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in a readable form.
• Who Ignis is for. What you tell us when you sign up — that Ignis is for you, your children, your students or someone else, and which age group (6–9, 10–13, or teens and up). This chooses how a Telling is worded; it is not used to verify anyone's real age.
• Your trail. The subjects you open inside Ignis, the order you move through them, and which moments, people and connections you visit. This is the one meaningful piece of "browsing information" Ignis keeps — what you do inside the app, not anywhere else online.
• A device identifier. A random ID stored in your browser, used only to apply the free daily budget fairly before you have an account. It carries no name or contact details.
• Nothing about payment. Extra usage is unlocked with a redeemable code that you type in yourself. We never see or store a card number, a bank detail, or any payment provider account.

3. How we use it

• To run Ignis. Keep you signed in, keep your trail waiting when you come back, and remember the age group you last chose.
• To build the interests profile you can look at. We look at the trail you leave inside Ignis — the subjects, eras and people you spend time with — to put together a simple picture of what you seem curious about, kept inside your own account for you to look at. It is drawn only from what you do inside Ignis.
• To keep the free tier fair. Your device identifier and account usage are checked against a spending cap so that no single visitor uses up the budget meant for everyone.
• To improve Ignis. Knowing which subjects and features get used helps decide what to build next.

4. What we don't do

• We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
• We don't track you around the rest of the web — no ad pixels, no cross-site cookies, no browsing history outside Ignis.
• We don't ask for anything beyond what's listed above: no government ID, no phone number, no home address, no payment details.
• We don't let the AI model learn from your use of Ignis. See the note below.

5. Where it lives

Your account and trail are held in a hosted database (Supabase), guarded so that only your own signed-in account can read or write your rows. Ignis itself is hosted on Vercel. When you open a subject, that subject and your chosen age group are sent to Anthropic's Claude to write the Telling; your interests profile is built the same way, from your trail. Your name, email and account details are never sent along with either.

Anthropic's own policy is that data sent through their API is not used to train their models unless a customer chooses to share it with them — and Ignis never does. The subjects and trails passed to Claude to write a Telling or build a profile are not fed back into the model, for you or for anyone else.

6. Children and families

Ignis is built to be used by children with a parent, guardian or teacher nearby, particularly at the 6–9 reading level. An account is created by whoever signs up — typically an adult — and Ignis does not ask a child directly for a name, an email address, or any other personal detail. If you're a parent or teacher and want to see, change or delete anything attached to an account, write to the address above.

7. Your choices

• Sign out at any time — your trail is kept and is waiting the next time you sign in.
• Ask us, at the address above, to see, correct or delete your account, your trail, or your interests profile. We'll act on it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

If this changes as Ignis grows, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Continuing to use Ignis after a change means you accept the update.
